Also all the servers are connected by a reliable high speed network. This means that the platform is\u00a0flexible enough to meet the users research requirements while being available at an affordable price.<\/p>\n<p>The Research Cloud is managed by a self-service portal. Because of this the user can provision and configure servers to their own needs. We also offer a set of standard templates which can be used and adapted by the end user available on login.<\/p>\n<h2>How to access<\/h2>\n<p>Access to the Research Cloud can be requested using\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uor.topdesk.net\/tas\/public\/ssp\/\">the form available in the DTS Self Service Portal (TOPdesk)<\/a>\u00a0and follow the path <span class=\"ssdnav-breadcrumb\">Home =&gt; <\/span> <span class=\"ssdnav-breadcrumb\"> Research Computing (RACC &amp; VMs)=<\/span><span class=\"ssdnav-breadcrumb\">&gt;<span data-bind=\"\n\t\t\t\ttext: caption,\n\t\t\t\tstyle: $component.setLowerCaseForTitle()\">Request a Virtual Machine for Research<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Research Cloud Pricing 2025-2026<\/h2>\n<p>Users can calculate the costs for using virtual machines or storage by combining the basic units below as required.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VCPU &#8211; \u00a380 per core per yearhttps:\/\/uor.topdesk.net\/tas\/public\/ssp\/content\/detail\/service?unid=cfedf8bf08ce4ee3b5b4cd87c52d6a2b<\/li>\n<li>Virtual Memory &#8211; \u00a38 per GB per year<\/li>\n<li>Virtual VData Storage &#8211; \u00a38 per GB per year<\/li>\n<li>VGPU &#8211; \u00a3125.00 per GPU per year (640 CUDA Cores)<\/li>\n<li>Offsite backup for VM &#8211; \u00a360.00 per TB per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/act\/knowledgebase\/research-data-storage-service\/\">Associated Network Storage costs linked to VM available here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>These costs have been certified for use with research councils.
