If it isn&#8217;t, or you want to install it on your personal machine, <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/act\/knowledgebase\/access-nomachine-software-on-pc\/\">here is how<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/act\/knowledgebase\/using-nx-reading-ac-uk\/\">setup guide<\/a> to connect you to the linux desktop. It is good practice to disconnect from your NX session (not just to close your NoMachine software) when you know you&#8217;ll be offline for a longer period as all users share the desktop service and long standing idle sessions will slow other users down. If your NX session becomes unresponsive, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/act\/knowledgebase\/nx-terminate-session\/\">terminate it<\/a> yourself.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of useful features, such as being able to<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/act\/knowledgebase\/nx-file-transfer\/\"> transfer files<\/a> between the client and the server or the ability to<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/act\/knowledgebase\/nx-map-a-drive-from-the-client\/\"> map a drive<\/a> from the client.
