{"id":613,"date":"2024-11-26T10:57:47","date_gmt":"2024-11-26T10:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/agrifood-futures\/?p=613"},"modified":"2025-09-09T16:39:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T15:39:52","slug":"plant-based-products-place-reading-on-pea-licious-podium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/agrifood-futures\/plant-based-products-place-reading-on-pea-licious-podium\/","title":{"rendered":"Plant-based products place Reading on Pea-licious podium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A team of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">University of Reading\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">students who<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0developed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0nutritious, plant-based, ready-to-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">consume yogurt and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">drin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">k<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">have been highly commended in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">an EIT<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">F<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ood<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2018Pea-Licious\u2019 is a food solutions program funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.\u00a0Students from the University of Reading\u2019s School of Agriculture,\u00a0Policy\u00a0and Development (SAPD) and the Food and Nutritional Sciences (FNS) department were challenged to create a convenient, nutritious, plant-based, ready-to-eat meal derived from\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rotational<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">crops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Reading\u2019s Pea-Licious\u00a0team won second prize in the competition with their innovative product,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">PeaChata,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a plant-based drink suitable for both children and adults.
