The University of Reading has been rated as joint 30 in the world for sustainability, according to the\u00a0QS Sustainability Rankings 2026<\/a>, published today [18 November].<\/p>\n

Reading has risen in the international league table for a fourth consecutive year, up from joint 42 in the world last year. A total of 2,002 institutions feature in the 2026 ranking, an increase of more than 250 compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

Reading is now ranked\u00a0\u00a0at 17 in Europe, up from joint 26 last year, out of 621 institutions, and at 12 in the UK table, from 99 UK institutions \u2013 an improvement from joint 16 last year.<\/p>\n

In the global rankings, Reading is placed at joint 28 in the world for Environmental Impact, up from joint 36 last year.<\/p>\n

For the Social Impact ranking, Reading is now joint 75, up from joint 88 in the 2025 table.\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis league table performance marks another significant milestone in our journey to become one of the greenest universities in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the fourth year in a row of improvement, which reflects the dedication of people across our university community to addressing the climate and environmental challenges we face.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur progress shows that meaningful action on sustainability starts with bold ambitions and credible planning, and requires long-term commitment to change leading to tangible results.”<\/p>\n

The University of Reading recently published its\u00a0Environmental Sustainability Report<\/a>, highlighting the\u00a0numerous\u00a0green milestones achieved in the year up to August 2025.<\/p>\n
