Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

AI-INTERVENE aims to be an inclusive, accessible programme, giving all students the opportunity to realise their potential in a supportive environment.

AI-INTERVENE are commited to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion for all participants and in the broader environmental sciences. The hosting universities (Readng, UCL) hold Athena Swan Silver charter awards and all STEM Schools also maintain Athena Swan Silver/Bronze awards. UoR and UCL hold Bronze Race Equality Charter awards and have dedicated senior management roles in Diversity/Equity & Inclusion. AI-INTERVENE’s core partner organisations collectively emphasise EDI as being integral to their science and public facing work.

EDI is embedded at multiple levels in AI-INTERVENE including

  • in student recruitment
  • in supervisory teams
  • in training
  • at committee level
  • in EDI monitoring.
