Moreover, AI-INTERVENE will connect with other relevant doctoral training networks to broaden experience, build confidence and enhance impact on development and career opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Full-stack Closed-Loop AI + Biodiversity training<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Training in AI-INTERVENE will cover the following core areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Data Processing Methods<\/b> \u2013 core underpinnings of AI and big data<\/li>\n<li><b>Biodiversity Inference Approaches<\/b> \u2013 tools and applications specific to biodiversity\/ecology<\/li>\n<li><b>Decision-making Tools<\/b> \u2013 tools for interfacing with public, policy makers, and land managers<\/li>\n<li><b>AI Ethics and Sustainability<\/b> \u2013 core principles of AI in data access, fairness, biases, and application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Based on an Individual Training Needs Assessment (ITNA) students wil undertake a number of bespoke electives including in areas such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foundations in Ecology &amp; Ecological Monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Applied Biodiversity Conservation<\/li>\n<li>AI for the Environment<\/li>\n<li>AI &amp; Machine Learning<\/li>\n<li>Data Science Algorithms and Tools<\/li>\n<li>Big Data and Cloud Computing<\/li>\n<li>Computational Methods for Biodiversity Research<\/li>\n<li>Biodiversity Generation &amp; Maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Data Security &amp; Ethics<\/li>\n<li>Causality &amp; Decision Making<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This will be supplemented by tailored content from the University of Reading and UCL Business &amp; Graduate Schools (e.g. on e<span class=\"BxUVEf ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\">ntrepreneurship<\/span><\/span>), Research Services, Libraries (e.g. on open access), partners, and from external sources (e.g. Turing Institute).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Multidisciplinary activities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Years 2-4 students will undertake a range of cohort-building multidisciplinary activities. During &#8220;AI-INTERVENE Wednesdays&#8221;\u00a0 held monthly during term time students across all cohorts will gain a broad perspective on AI-INTERVENE methods and challenges, gain opportunities for continued peer-to-peer interaction, benefit from reciprocal knowledge exchange between students, stakeholders and otherdoctoral training programmes, as well as social activities.
