REP students with AI-INTERVENE will receive supervision by one of our established research scientists as well as mentorship from a current PhD student. All our projects require you to work with data and develop your computing skills and will allow you to show your own initiative.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"636\">Please note that the below details are provisional and will be confirmed later in May 2026.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"641\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"676\">Applications for REPs 2026<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"757\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"715\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"715\"><strong data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"701\">Applications Open:<\/strong> Late May 2026<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"757\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"718\" data-end=\"757\"><strong data-start=\"718\" data-end=\"743\">Application Deadline:<\/strong> Early June 2026 (expect a 2-week window for applications)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"988\">REPs funding supports <em data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"814\">paid summer research placements<\/em> for undergraduate students across all science disciplines, encouraging careers in environmental science.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"990\" data-end=\"993\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1013\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" role=\"img\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/svg\/1f3af.svg\" alt=\"\ud83c\udfaf\" \/> Key Details<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1339\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1052\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1052\"><strong data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1036\">3 REPs available<\/strong> for Summer 2026<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1052\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1052\"><strong data-start=\"1055\" data-end=\"1068\">Duration:<\/strong> 6 weeks (37.5 hours\/week) \u2014 10 weeks (22.5 hours\/week)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1052\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1052\"><strong>Start date:<\/strong> Early-to-mid July 2026<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1052\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1052\"><strong data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1183\">Working Options:<\/strong> Full-time, part-time, or hybrid (varies by project)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1288\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1288\"><strong data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1267\">Travel Allowance:<\/strong> Up to \u00a3100 available. There is no additional funding available for relocation or accommodation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1339\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1339\"><strong data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1304\">Location:<\/strong> The expectation is that projects require some in-person attendance. Remote Working is subject to project requirements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Work contract<\/strong>: REPs recipients are paid as research officer employee (@17.25 per hour), and will enter into a Workers Agreement with the host department of the University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1455\">Each REP student will also be matched with a <strong data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1408\">PhD student mentor<\/strong> to guide and support throughout the placement.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are open to students from all UK universities and all subject disciplines \u2013 however, your application is more likely to be successful if <span class=\"TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW94916478 BCX0\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW94916478 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW94916478 BCX0\">your experience and skills match the student profile of the specific project you are applying for.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW94916478 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1457\" data-end=\"1460\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1488\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" role=\"img\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/svg\/2705.svg\" alt=\"\u2705\" \/> Eligibility Criteria<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1513\">To apply, students must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1514\" data-end=\"1591\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1516\" data-end=\"1591\">Be studying for their <em data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1566\">first undergraduate degree<\/em> (or integrated Masters). <em><strong>Note: students in their final year who have graduated and no longer have student status at the time the placement starts are not eligible.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1657\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1657\"><strong data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1601\">Not<\/strong> be in full-time employment (part-time may be eligible).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1657\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1657\">Be eligible for subsequent NERC PhD funding\u00a0(Please see the UKRI Training Grant Terms and Conditions and guidance documents available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/publications\/terms-and-conditions-for-training-funding\/\">here<\/a> (TGC 5.2) for details on eligibility).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1701\" data-end=\"1757\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1757\">Have the right to work in the UK during the placement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students from outside the UK who do not already have right to work in the UK, should not apply<\/li>\n<li>an international student currently studying in the UK with a Tier 4 or equivalent visa that is valid for the duration of the REP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"1807\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1807\">Be physically based in the UK for the duration of the placement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"1886\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1810\" data-end=\"1886\">Students from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
