Extreme weather events can damage infrastructure and disrupt operations, requiring resilient design and maintenance strategies for roads, railways, airports, and ports. Accurate weather forecasts can help transport companies optimise routes and safely avoid severe conditions. In the longer term, the effects of climate change need to be factored into transport planning to mitigate future impacts. In this vein, it&#8217;s also important to understand more complex relationships between the weather and transport, such as how clear-air turbulence has worsened with global warming.
