Predictability is a fundamental concept in weather and climate modelling, referring to the extent to which future atmospheric and oceanic states can be accurately forecasted given current observations and initial conditions. Evaluation and verification are essential for testing the predictability and reliability of different modelling approaches, as they provide a way to assess their accuracy and limitations. However, the definition of predictability and the specific evaluation tools required depend on the intended applications and decision-making needs. By improving our understanding of the predictability of weather and climate models, we can better inform decision-making and policy development, and increase resilience to weather and climate-related risks.<\/span><\/p>\n
