Elephant in the Room explores how arts could facilitate conversations about alcohol use.<\/p>\n<p>The HARI team were joined by two guest presenters:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/awards.nursingtimes.net\/judge\/12659?search_id=50\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mark Holmes<\/a> (a Registered Mental Health Nurse) gave an overview of his work using technology to reach drinkers through online coaching\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/humankindcharity.org.uk\/who-we-are\/about-humankind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Humankind Charity<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qmul.ac.uk\/ihse\/staff\/community-based-medical-education\/louiseyounie.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Louise Younie<\/a> (a GP and Clinical Senior Lecturer at QMUL, and Founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creativeenquiry.qmul.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Creative Enquiry<\/a>) described her creative practice including working with medical students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This workshop was the first to be held remotely. Over 50 participants signed up for the 2 hour event, which included music, presentations, drawing and group discussions. Dr Ranjita Dhital introduced the HARI team and gave an overview on alcohol use in the UK. Participants then heard three pieces of soundart commissioned by art students from Reading School of Art: Danai Theodoropoulou (Art and Psychology), Lindsey Jones (Fine Art), and Lisa Barnard (Art PhD).
