Music Assisted Programmes: Developing communication in autism spectrum disorder through music making
JOIN OUR ONLINE STUDY ON LANGUAGE INTERVENTIONS IN AUTISM
AIMS
To examine the efficacy of online music-assisted language interventions in 24-60-month-old nonverbal or minimally verbal autistic children.
WHO
This study is looking for:
- Autistic children – with an official diagnosis
- Aged 24-60 months, nonverbal or minimally verbal (fewer than 20 spontaneously spoken words)
PROCEDURE
We will offer parents online training in delivering language interventions to their children using either music-assisted programmes or speech and language therapy. Participation will involve two online 45-min sessions per week, for 18 weeks.
This study has been reviewed by the University Research Ethics Committee at the University of Reading and the NHS/HSC Research Ethics Committee, and has been given a favourable ethical opinion for conduct.
