Robert McCrum is a novelist, journalist, and literary editor. He was editorial director at Faber and Faber from 1979 to 1989, and then editor-in-chief from 1990 to 1996. Subsequently, he has been literary editor, then associate editor, of The Observer<\/em> newspaper (-2012).<\/p>\n

His most recent fiction includes The Psychological Moment<\/em>, Jubilee<\/em>, and Suspicion<\/em>. His non-fiction includes My Year Off: Recovering Life after a Stroke<\/em>, P.G. Wodehouse: A Life<\/em>, and Every Third Thought: On Life, Death, and the Endgame<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Robert was Creative Fellow at the Centre from 2019-20, and worked on a drama relating to Beckett\u2019s experiences during World War Two. He was inspired to undertake a number of activities from his Fellowship, including writing a play entitled Full Moon, a 2019 BBC Radio 4 documentary on Beckett\u2019s Last Tapes (https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/m0007k9b<\/a>), and an article in The Observer (\u2018Another Side of Samuel Beckett\u2019, The Observer, 28 July 2018: https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/culture\/2019\/jul\/28\/another-side-to-samuel-beckett-becketts-last-tapes-robert-mccrum<\/a>).<\/p>\n
