Staging Beckett (2012 - 2015)<\/h1>\n

This 3-year AHRC funded project examined the role Samuel Beckett played in shaping modern theatre practice in the UK and Ireland.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The website<\/a> includes extensive information on previous and upcoming UK productions of Beckett\u2019s plays, a blog on aspects of staging Beckett, edited interviews with practitioners, and learning materials. The project has enabled ongoing research into staging Beckett in the UK and Ireland, and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Online Performance Database<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The project piloted the creation of a searchable online <\/span>database that holds information about all professional productions of Beckett's theatre throughout the UK and Ireland. This will form part of<\/span>\u00a0an initiative to create an extensive national performance database, where information can be accessed about past and future theatre performances in the UK and Ireland. The Staging Beckett database is available\u00a0<\/span>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team and Partners<\/h3>\n

The Staging Beckett project was led by Professor Anna McMullan<\/strong><\/a> (University of Reading), Professor Graham Saunders (formerly University of Reading; now University of Birmingham) and Professor David Pattie (formerly University of Chester; now University of Birmingham), in partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project drew on original archival material from the University of Reading's world-leading Samuel Beckett Collection<\/strong><\/a>, the Victoria and Albert Museum's Theatre and Performance archives in London, other collections across Britain and Ireland, and international archives such as the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
