Ioanna Marinaki

I am an award winning global technology executive with over 25 years of experience spanning multiple industries, including consumer applications, telecommunications, semiconductors, renewable energy, and highly regulated sectors such as military and aerospace. I am also the Founder and CTO of Pulse Biotech, an IP-driven biotechnology company where I lead the full technology lifecycle—from initial invention and system architecture to intellectual property strategy and commercial readiness. As a named inventor on granted EU and UK patents, with further applications pending in the US, my work is positioned to provide broad coverage across the global med-tech landscape.

My PhD research at the University of Reading is on Advancing neurofeedback for addressing stress-related overeating.

So far, I have built a strong foundation for my research by developing a comprehensive understanding of the field and designing a neurofeedback system architecture with a focus on latency optimisation. I have successfully created and transitioned an initial proof of concept, demonstrating the feasibility of the approach. Alongside this, I have secured ethical approval for key stages of the project, including stress imagery validation, EEG marker identification, and neurofeedback marker development. At present, I am actively conducting the first experiment, moving from theory into real-world application and data collection.
