Description<\/h2>\n
Train drivers are exposed to many repeated sequences of line side signals colour light signals which follow formalised rules. This project aims to use EEG and novel data analysis methods, to measure how the cortices of the brain perform the task. This identifies the patterns of events that are most easily and accurately interpreted. The effects of habituation (boredom fatigue) are also being investigated. The preliminary results indicate that this occurs after a relatively low number of events and may be cyclical in nature. Determining which patterns of events lead to the optimal human performance in a safety critical environment has clear benefits.<\/div>\n
