The UK endured a period of severe weather between mid-December 2013 and early January 2014. In Borth, a powerful storm struck the seafront during the night of 3 January, causing localised damage and small breaches of the seawall in places.
Although dramatic, the storm was certainly not a unique event. Although Borth’s homes have got safer over time because of sea defence works, the 2014 storm was the latest in a long history of weather events in the village. The memories of many of these are retained by Borth’s older residents.
