Borth’s new sea defences have helped secure the village for decades to come. However, climate change and sea level rise still present a problem, as they do for many coastal communities around the UK.
Two Minutes To Midnight, by local woodturner Phil Dalton, focuses on the seriousness of climate change and the need for action. Phil mainly uses Welsh and foraged woods in his work, drawing inspiration from their natural shape, colour and grain.
Phil explained: “My design for Two Minutes to Midnight is made from a single piece of driftwood that caught my eye on the beach opposite my home after a storm. Its shape influenced and led to the sculpture’s creation”.
