It is not only stones that shift onto and off Borth beach. In 1983, a strong spring tide pushed huge quantities of seaweed onto the village’s seafront overnight, much to the surprise of local residents. The seaweed remained for a couple of weeks and quicky began to rot. As one resident at the time, Pat Heming, recalls, “After a few days you needed a clothes peg on your nose to go onto the beach!”
