The stones on Borth beach can be hazardous, particularly for residents living on the beachfront. Strong storms can shift enormous quantities of beach sediment and fling pebbles and rocks against houses. And yet Borth’s shingle bank, as well as protecting the village from the actions of the sea, can also be a source of inspiration for those living alongside it.
Local resident, Bodge, collects and displays heart-shaped stones that she has found on Borth Beach. She explained that the heart form is a very positive shape, one that is widespread in nature, including in the pebbles on the Beach. “Once you get your eye in”, she said, “then you see them everywhere.
