In November 1965, ITV news reported that a sandstorm had driven beach sand inland at Borth, where it had piled up on the main road and in people’s gardens.
Today, the 2011 defence works mean that there is little sand remaining on the upper side of Borth beach. Instead, during storms, beach stones are regularly washed over sections the seawall where the beach defences are weaker. These stones must be quickly removed from the road so that they are not hazardous to pedestrians and vehicles.
