The art works were created by the Dementia Friendly Group and the Get Together Group for older people. Work from the children at Ysgol Craig yr Wylfa was also on display during the exhibition.

The theme of ‘Storms’ was the starting point for all of the works and led to some inspiring art works, fascinating stories and the sharing of touching memories.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

“Both groups are about exploring something new and having a go. There are broken umbrellas, that were found or donated, painted as stormy skies and used as hangers for displays of fish, crows, small paper boats and miniature washing lines. Origami paper boats floating not only beneath an umbrella but also in several scenes of stormy seas. The tiny laundry fluttered gently ever time someone walked past.

The exhibition also plays with scale, creating a number of scenes in miniature enabling the viewer to take a different perspective on the world they are doing. During the creation of some of these pieces conversation arose around how the work can also represent metaphors for the storms of life and the impacts of aging. The making of the exhibition is captured in the images below.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1259,1205,1266,1264,1265,1263,1260,1269,1270,1262,1267,1268,1261,1277″ title=”Behind the Scenes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_btn title=”Stories of Storms” style=”flat” color=”vista-blue” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fresearch.reading.ac.uk%2Fborth-and-the-sea%2Fstories-of-storms%2F|title:Stories%20of%20Storms”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_btn title=”Policy” style=”flat” color=”vista-blue” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fresearch.reading.ac.uk%2Fborth-and-the-sea%2Fpublications%2F|title:Publications”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row full_height=”yes”][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1249,1224,1238,1225,1223,1242,1239,1240,1252,1251,1241,1247,1248,1256″ title=”‘Storms’ Art Exhibition”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As part of the ‘Stories of Storms’ project we worked in collaboration with local artist Martine Ormerod and Borth Community Hwb to create visual…Read More >

[20
post-1186","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.8.1 -
