[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Since the early 1970s, Borth had been protected from the sea by timber groynes. However, in the early 2000s, shoreline studies indicated that these structures were beginning to fail. A new rock-based groyne and beach replenishment scheme was eventually commissioned, the majority of works being carried out on the seafront in 2011.<\/p>\n

Day-after-day heavy machinery shifted hundreds of thousand of tonnes of rock and shingle into place. This activity was disruptive for many residents, but also provided a spectacle for others.<\/p>\n
