As we count down to our Reading Botany Reunion Party we are encouraging those attending to bring along botanical memorabilia for our memory wall!
The featured image is a botanical blast from the past and spot on for the memory wall! This was an international symposium held at University of Reading Whiteknights 14-17 July 1975 on the biology and chemistry of the Compositae (Asteraceae).
This was organised under the auspices of the Linnean Society of London and was one of a series of plant family based symposia that were initiated at Reading, the first being that on the Umbelliferae.
Such international conferences were a major feature of the work of the Department and helped make it the leading centre of plant taxonomy and systematics in Europe.
You had to be there of course but can you spot any notable botanical faces in this picture?
If so contact j.mitchley@reading.ac.uk
If you are a Reading Botany Alumnus and you cannot attend our reunion event please do still email us your images and other botanical momentos and include a message if you like and we will add this to our memory wall!
