SUMMARY:Enhancing Fieldwork Learning Showcase Event 2019
DESCRIPTION:Enhancing Fieldwork Learning Showcase 2019\nSchool of Agriculture\, Policy & Development\, University of Reading\, Rooms 1L06 & 1L08 \nYou are invited to attend and contribute to the 9th Annual Showcase event run by the Enhancing Fieldwork Learning project in collaboration with the British Ecological Society. Building on the previous Showcases\, the event aims to share ideas and practice with regards to innovative field Teaching and Learning; with an emphasis on the use of mobile technologies. \nAs this year marks the 50th year of teaching Botany Masters Degrees at the University of Reading\, the Showcase will involve an interactive\, field botany-based activity led by Drs Jonathan Mitchley and Alastair Culham. \nWe also have a confirmed Keynote talk from Dr Matthew Nicholls from Oxford University about how he combines a 3D digital model of Ancient Rome with fieldwork in contemporary Rome to provide students with an insight into the appearance of the ancient city. \nThe event will be of interest to fieldwork practitioners from a range of disciplines including Geology\, Physical and Human Geography\, Environmental and Ecological Sciences\, Agriculture\, Archaeology and the wider Biosciences. It will be relevant to those early in their teaching career as well as those more experienced academics looking to upskill and innovate their teaching practice in the field. \nThe event will run from mid-morning on Thursday 12th September to lunchtime on Friday 13th September at the University of Reading. The 24hr interactive experience will include presentations of innovative teaching practices as well as practical field experiences. \nThe meeting cost is £42.23 to cover registration and food.
