As we count down to our Reading Botany Reunion Party<\/a> we are encouraging those attending to bring along botanical memorabilia for our memory wall!<\/p>\n

The featured image is a botanical blast from the past and spot on for the memory wall!\u00a0 \u00a0This was an international symposium held at University of Reading Whiteknights 14-17 July 1975 on the biology and chemistry of the Compositae (Asteraceae).<\/p>\n

This was organised under the auspices of the Linnean Society of London<\/a> and was one of a series of plant family based symposia that were initiated at Reading, the first being that on the Umbelliferae<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Such international conferences were a major feature of the work of the Department and helped make it the leading centre of plant taxonomy and systematics in Europe.<\/p>\n
