About
The British Museum and the University of Reading are committed to developing joint initiatives in teaching, research, staff exchange, studentships, placements, and local schools outreach and public engagement activities.
Our partnership activities engage academic researchers, museum professionals, postgraduate and undergraduate students, citizen scientists and members of the public. Our joint research projects have been awarded over £4m from funders including the AHRC, the British Academy and UKRI Future Leadership Fellowships.

We have invested together in a joint research fund to support pilot work, workshops and staff and student placements. We have supported 8 undergraduate research placements as part of the University’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP).
We jointly supervise PhD students funded by the British Museum AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership scheme, on topics ranging from early humans and ancient Egypt to the study of metallurgy and museum practice.
