Its legacy of online lectures, research and exhibition book continues to shed light on the world that brought monuments like Stonehenge into being.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;233&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Over a million people have gazed into prehistory through the British Museum\u2019s \u2019The world of Stonehenge\u2019 exhibition and its outreach activities, co-curated by Reading archaeologist Professor Duncan Garrow and the Museum\u2019s Dr Neil Wilkin.<\/p>\n<p>Using Stonehenge\u2019s global fame to draw visitors into the wider prehistoric world, the highly acclaimed 2022 exhibition explored the travel and technologies of prehistoric people, how beliefs and materials were shared across Europe and their links with the natural world \u2013 from stone and wood to sea and sky. Soundscapes, projections and artefacts came together to transport visitors across the millennia.<\/p>\n<p>Over 190,000 people came through the Museum\u2019s doors, and hundreds of thousands more have been to events and watched online lectures. One talk, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=j47p5n5rF6Y\">Stonehenge\u2019s Richest Man<\/a>\u2019, a collaboration with Devizes Museum, has been enjoyed 182,000 times. Others attended events for schools, families and other groups, including sign language tours and community previews for homeless charities.<\/p>\n<p>The world of Stonehenge\u2019s legacy continues. Garrow and Wilkin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishmuseumshoponline.org\/the-world-of-stonehenge-hardback.html\">critically acclaimed exhibition book<\/a> has sold over 20,000 copies.
