{"id":385,"date":"2019-05-11T14:04:36","date_gmt":"2019-05-11T13:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/caasd-project\/?page_id=385"},"modified":"2024-09-27T09:14:56","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T08:14:56","slug":"take-part-in-our-research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/caasd-project\/take-part-in-our-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Take part in our research"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><b> CAASD PROJECTS FOR OLDER CHILDREN &amp; ADULTS<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><b>AIMS<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">To examine how individuals with different music and language skills process language, music, pitch, and emotion.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><b>WHO<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">The study is looking for native English speakers <b>aged between 7-6<\/b><b>0 years <\/b>who either:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">have a clinical diagnosis of <b>autism<\/b>; OR<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">cannot sing-in-tune or detect an out-of-tune note in a melody; OR<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">have neither music nor language problems.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><b>REGISTER<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">Please register your interest at the following link and a researcher will be in touch:<\/span><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk\/s\/reading\/registration-form\">https:\/\/app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk\/s\/reading\/registration-form<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><b>More information:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">The CAASD project consists of various studies, each of which may have different requirements and tasks. For instance, participants may be asked to make judgments on sounds, fill in questionnaires, and\/or have their brain responses measured using electroencephalogram (EEG). Some of the studies are conducted in-person in our lab at the University of Reading whereas others are conducted online. For our lab-based studies, first-time participants will also need to complete a few standardised cognitive tests as part of our background measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\"><b>Participants ar<\/b><b>e <\/b><b>remunerated for their time at <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u00a310 per hour plus travel expenses<\/span><\/b><b>.
