[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On February 21, 2017 CeLM, along with Bilingualism Matters @ Reading and Mothertongue delivered two interactive events to communicate the benefits of maintaining the Mother Tongue and provide a glimpse into the work of interpreters in celebration of Mother Language Day.<\/p>\n
The night was hosted by CeLM director Professor Theo Marinis and Bilingualism Matters @ Reading director Professor Ludovica Serratrice and started with a discussion on how bilingual children can benefit from maintaining their Mother Tongue. The audience joined in and shared ideas and tips on how busy families can maintain their mother tongue.<\/p>\n
Following that discussion was a performace from Mothertongue. Mothertongue is a multi-ethnic counselling and listening service who recently published an anthology of interpreters stories. They shared the complex role of interpreters, the delicacy of communication, and relationships they build when bridging cultures, by performing excerpts from their book.<\/p>\n
