Bilingualism Matters provides training, advice and information on child bilingualism to anyone interested or involved with raising, educating and caring for bilingual and multilingual children. It also bridges the gap between researchers and society by presenting recent findings on the social and cognitive advantages of bilingualism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO WE ARE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bilingualism Matters is an information and outreach centre funded at the University of Edinburgh by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210122130701\/https:\/www.ed.ac.uk\/profile\/antonella-sorace\">Prof. Antonella Sorace<\/a>. Our mission is to bridge the gap between researchers and the community by providing accurate and up-to-date information about bi-and multilingualism to families, schools, clinicians and policy-makers. Bilingualism Matters counts on a wide network of partner branches spread all over the world, including Norway, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, the US, Greece, Germany, Spain, Israel, and France.<\/p>\n<p>Bilingualism Matters@Reading opened in 2013 and is currently co-directed by Dr Naomi Flynn and Professor Holly Joseph. As part of the Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism, BM@Reading focuses on topics related to education, psycholinguistics, migration, neuroscience and language disorders. We provide information to the public through a website, a Twitter account and\u00a0<strong>three dedicated leaflets<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/celm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/105\/Unorganized\/BM@Reading_TeacherLeaflet.pdf\">teachers<\/a>\u00a0,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/celm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/105\/Unorganized\/B18587-CeLM-Multilingualism-PARENTS-FINAL-130717.pdf\">families<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/celm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/105\/Unorganized\/BM@Reading_SLTLeaflet.pdf\">speech and language therapists<\/a>.
