Title of Study: The Multilingual Picture (Multipic) Database<\/strong><\/p>\n

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION SHEET<\/strong><\/p>\n

We would be grateful if you could assist us by participating in our online study which aims to provide the most common names for a set of pictures in Cornish. This study is part of a large project that has already been run in over 35 languages (https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/christos-lab\/the-multilingual-picture-dataset-multipic\/<\/a>). The purpose of this project is to create a freely-available set of well-controlled images and their names, which is currently missing in Cornish,\u00a0which will be of great value to researchers and clinicians working with language.<\/p>\n

What will I be asked to do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The experiment will be run entirely online. You will be presented with a series of pictures, and you will be asked to type in the name of the item shown in each picture. After typing the word, you will be asked to indicate how familiar you think you are with the presented item. In order to get used to the procedure, you will complete two practice trials before starting the experiment. The entire experiment will last about one hour, and breaks will be inserted during the test at every 50 trials.<\/p>\n

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary; you may withdraw your consent at any time without having to give any reason. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have about this study at any point.<\/p>\n

Why have I been invited to participate in this study?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You have been invited to participate in this study because you are a native or fluent speaker of Cornish, aged 18 or over.<\/p>\n

Are there any benefits to taking part?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are there any risks or disadvantages to taking part?<\/strong><\/p>\n

What will happen to my data\/how will it be protected?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will not be asked to give any information that could be used to identify you personally (e.g., your name, date of birth, IP address). Only the researchers involved in the study will have access to your anonymous responses. Confidentiality, privacy and anonymity will be ensured in the collection, storage and publication of research material.<\/p>\n
