The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Reading is inviting applicants for PhD studentships in Psychology and Language Sciences. Language research in the school covers psycholinguistics and the cognitive neuroscience of language, language development, bi-\/multilingualism, and language disorders. We are looking for students interested in pursuing PhD projects along these broad themes. Successful applicants will have full access to facilities within the School, which include eye-tracking, TMS, EEG and MRI, and will become members of the various labs and research centres across the School and university. This includes the Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics Lab<\/a>\u00a0and the Bilingualism in the Brain Lab<\/a>\u00a0within the School, and the Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism<\/a>\u00a0and the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics<\/a>\u00a0across the university. A number of PhD studentships are currently available for study beginning in Autumn 2024, as described below.<\/p>\n

Magdalen Vernon Studentship<\/strong><\/p>\n

The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences offers the Magdalen Vernon Studentship<\/a>. This is a 4-year PhD award that covers fees and provides a stipend via a graduate teaching assistantship. It is open to both UK and international applicants interested in PhD study in psychology, neuroscience, psycholinguistics or clinical language science.\u00a0The deadline for applications is December 8th, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

SEDarc Doctoral Training Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Reading is part of the ESRC funded South-East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) Doctoral Training Partnership, which consists of six research-intensive universities in the south-east of England. SEDarc offers studentships for either PhD study (for 3.5 years) or combined MSc\/PhD study involving a 1-year MSc followed by a PhD. These studentships are open to UK and international applicants, and cover fees and a yearly stipend. To apply for one of these studentships with the University of Reading, please complete our Expression of Interest form<\/a>\u00a0as soon as possible<\/em>. Full SEDarc applications will need to be submitted to Reading by January, 12th 2024<\/strong>. Please see the University’s SEDarc webpage<\/a>\u00a0for further information.<\/p>\n

University of Reading International PhD Studentships<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Reading also offers studentships covering fees and a stipend for international students. This is available to students who either wish to study in Reading or complete a PhD by distance (though note that the scholarship for by-distance students covers fees only). For further information, please see the International PhD Studentships<\/a>\u00a0webpage. The deadline for applications for the International PhD Studentship is January 8th, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The university also offers a variety of other studentships for home and international students. Further information about available schemes can be found at the university’s Doctoral and Researcher College<\/a>.
