Research Studies<\/h1>\n

All studies in the Centre follow our study development process.<\/a> This includes funded studies, pilot work, and student research and placement projects. The study team must have completed all relevant lab inductions and training (including MRI authorised personnel training if applicable). The study lead and PI are required to be present for the protocol approval meeting (the meeting is open to all, and therefore all members of the study team and other collaborators are welcome to join).<\/p>\n

Pilot Data<\/h1>\n

The Centre supports the acquisition of small pilot datasets in any of the modalities in order to demonstrate technical feasibility in funding applications. Pilot data acquisition for this purpose requires the prior approval of the CINN director and the relevant modality expert(s), and follows the normal study development process<\/a>. Where all research team members are based outside the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences (PCLS), access to the Centre facilities for this purpose needs joint approval from the Head of the relevant School and the Head of PCLS (please contact us by emailing cinn@reading.ac.uk<\/a> to discuss).<\/p>\n

UoR PhD Students<\/h1>\n

Publicly funded PhD students who have completed all relevant lab inductions and training (including MRI authorised personnel training if applicable) receive free access to the facilities to develop their study, under the study development procedures outlined above. They are granted access to collect data once their study has ethical approval by the University Research Ethics Committee, and their study protocol has been approved by the CINN Study Approval Committee at a neuromethods session. Please note that this represents a long period of preparation and training. In the case of MRI-based research in particular, it is unlikely to be appropriate for students who have not approached the Centre on arriving to Reading.<\/p>\n

UoR PhD students whose supervisory team is based outside the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences (PCLS) need joint approval from the Head of their home School and the Head of PCLS (please contact us by emailing cinn@reading.ac.uk<\/a> to discuss).<\/p>\n

Subject to availability of space, PhD students can also ask to be physically based in CINN to facilitate their better integration and training.<\/p>\n

PhD students working on industry-funded projects do not received free access to the facilities but may seek access costs from their sponsor. Please contact us by emailing cinn@reading.ac.uk<\/a> to discuss how to cost your project’s use of the facilities.<\/p>\n

External Users<\/h1>\n

We can accommodate a wide range of experimental, interventional, and dagnostic applications across the modalities of the Centre, which can all be used in combination. We also have experience in collaborating with the media on short and longer-term projects in science communication for various public outlets.<\/p>\n
