{"id":1875,"date":"2018-10-28T15:51:29","date_gmt":"2018-10-28T15:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/cinn\/?p=1875"},"modified":"2024-09-09T16:43:24","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T15:43:24","slug":"cinn-member-awarded-funding-for-work-on-uncertainty-and-anxiety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/cinn\/cinn-member-awarded-funding-for-work-on-uncertainty-and-anxiety\/","title":{"rendered":"CINN member awarded funding for work on uncertainty and anxiety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A member of CINN has been awarded funding by the <a href=\"https:\/\/esrc.ukri.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ESRC<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbrfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brain &amp; Behaviour Research Foundation<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0British Academy\u00a0for her work around uncertainty and anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>Postdoctoral researcher Dr Jayne Morriss has been named a recipient of a Young Investigator Grant from the Brain &amp; Behaviour Research Foundation. The grants, which are awarded every year, go to early-career scientists with &#8220;innovative ideas for groundbreaking neurobiological research&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The grant was awarded for her work around uncertainty and anxiety, specifically looking at whether intolerance of uncertainty disrupts safety learning.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Morriss&#8217; project measures the response of those taking part to a computer-based task imitating uncertain situations. It is hoped the project will provide a foundation for further study into how intolerance of uncertainty manifests in children and teenagers, and its relevance to the development of anxiety-based disorders.<\/p>\n<p>Want to know more?
