I use functional and structural neuroimaging, neurochemical imaging, peripheral and central psychophysiology, mathematical modelling, personality and psychodiagnostic instruments, and behavioural testing. With collaborators from multiple disciplines we take a molecules-to-mind approach to human cognition and behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>I trained in biology at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/\">Imperial College London<\/a>, and in behavioural neuroscience at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cam.ac.uk\/\">Cambridge<\/a>, where I worked with Professors Barry Everitt and Trevor Robbins. Shortly after my PhD, I spent some time at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/icn\">Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL<\/a> in the lab of Professor Patrick Haggard, before moving to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/ioppn\">Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King&#8217;s College London<\/a> for further postdoctoral training. There, I worked in developmental cognitive neuroscience and psychopathology with Professors Katya Rubia and Eric Taylor at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/mental-health-and-psychological-sciences\/about\/departments\/social-genetic-and-developmental-psychiatry\">Social, Genetic, and Developmental Psychiatry Centre<\/a>, and trained in neuroimaging with the teams of Professors Mick Brammer and Gareth Barker, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/neuroscience\/about\/departments\/neuroimaging\">Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences<\/a>. I moved to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\">Reading<\/a> in 2009 as a lecturer in Developmental Psychopathology, leaving briefly to train in computational modeling at the <a href=\"https:\/\/pni.princeton.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princeton Neuroscience Institute<\/a> with Professor Yael Niv in 2010. I left again briefly in 2015 to work as a science journalist at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/\">Nature<\/a>, after being awarded a Media Fellowship by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishscienceassociation.org\/media-fellows\">British Science Association<\/a>. I served as Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/cinn\">CINN<\/a> between 2018 and 2025.
