How will I know if all the old poo is out?

Sometimes it’s difficult to tell when all the old poo is out and the bowel has been completely cleared.

Once the bowel has become stretched new poo could start to build up again, so it’s a good idea to continue monitoring your child’s bowel movements.

You may find a poo diary useful to keep track of how often your child is pooing, and how soft the poo is.

Dr Pritchard explains in 2 minutes:

Signs the impacted poo has come out are

They say they can feel the poo coming out

Poo can be easily cleaned from the skin

They stay clean and dry in between poos

What do now: Keep the poo from building up

There may still be impacted poo if

Poo comes out without feeling anything

Poo smells bad and does not wipe off easily

Poo is runny, but this is not diarrhea
