As part of the Community Led Research Pilot, delivered by University of Reading (UoR), the British Science Association (BSA) and six Berkshire-based community groups, Reading-based organisation TRIYBE co-designed and delivered Project Natura<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In this study, TRIYBE aimed to investigate, understand, and raise awareness of the mental, physical and overall wellbeing impacts that Black hair care products have on Reading’s Black heritage community.<\/p>\n

The project combined community engagement with lab experiments in the UoR Chemistry department, investigating the effects of Black hair care products under certain conditions.<\/p>\n

In the following report, Post-Doctoral Researcher Symiah Barnett, who guided the experimentation phase of the project, discusses key findings and outcomes.<\/p>\n
