At the forefront of applied computer vision

The Computational Vision Group (CVG), comprised of academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, conducts cutting-edge research in computer vision, machine learning, and image understanding, focusing on real-world applications.

CVG receives substantial funding from European and UK research bodies and has a strong emphasis on security-related technologies, such as surveillance, biometrics, and privacy-aware systems. CVG also leads work in environmental monitoring, particularly through satellite image analysis for change detection, flood prediction, and climate assessment.

CVG collaborates closely with industry and end users in development of, and piloting of innovations. fostering impact through operational practice and policy input.

CVG is led by Professor James Ferryman.
