The Computational Vision Group (CVG)<\/strong> at the University of Reading<\/strong> conducts pioneering research at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and image understanding. The group develops intelligent systems capable of interpreting complex visual data, with applications ranging from security to environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

CVG benefits from significant external funding<\/strong>, including major support from the European Commission<\/strong> and UK national research agencies. One of the group\u2019s core strengths lies in security-focused research<\/strong>, encompassing automated surveillance<\/strong>, biometrics<\/strong> and identity management<\/strong>, privacy-aware vision technologies <\/strong>and benchmarking<\/strong>. These projects often involve close collaboration with government bodies and industry, addressing real-world challenges in national and public security.<\/p>\n

In parallel, CVG leads a growing environmental monitoring<\/strong> workstream, with particular expertise in automated satellite image analysis<\/strong>.
