These are two of the innocents\u2014abandoned or orphaned children\u2014from the Ospidale degli Innocenti (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.museumsinflorence.com\/musei\/ospedale_degli_innocenti.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Foundling Hospital<\/a>) in Florence. The oval forms differ from the original pieces\u2014round <strong>tondi<\/strong>\u2014that were produced in the 1470s in blue-and-white glazed terracotta.
