In two recent presentations on behalf of the Diasporic Literary Archives Network and ICA’s Section for Archives of Literature and Art, David Sutton has adapted one of the key themes of the work of DLAN since 2012 and spoken on the importance for each country within the archival family (between 195 and 200 countries in total) of building their own collections of personal papers. This was the the theme of his keynote addresses:
(1) at the conference of ESARBICA (the Eastern and Southern African Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives), Lilongwe, Malawi, 9 August 2017;
(2) as the Annual Public Lecture of the Friends of the National Archives of Malta, Rabat, Malta, 25 October 2017.
The Diasporic Literary Archives Network and ICA’s Section for Archives of Literature and Art are offering to work in partnership and solidarity with colleagues in other countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, in developing their collections of the personal papers of prominent citizens, notably (but not exclusively) in the fields of cultural heritage, literature and art.
