{"id":730,"date":"2024-02-09T11:23:58","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T11:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/earth-system-prediction\/?page_id=730"},"modified":"2024-02-09T11:30:32","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T11:30:32","slug":"postdoctoral-research-scientist-vacancies","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/earth-system-prediction\/postdoctoral-research-scientist-vacancies\/","title":{"rendered":"Postdoctoral Research Scientist Vacancies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We currently have vacancies for six outstanding Postdoctoral Research Scientists to join the Advancing the Frontiers of Earth System Prediction (AFESP) research programme. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an exciting opportunity to join the unique AFESP research programme, following the recent award of six five-year research grants led by University of Reading Principal Investigators, and joined by co-investigators from ECMWF, the UK Met Office and NCAS.<\/p>\n<p>These grants will deliver research priorities aligned to the AFESP\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/earth-system-prediction\/our-research\/science-plan\/\">strategic science plan<\/a>. AFESP is a new 15-year, \u00a330million research programme at the University of Reading, in partnership with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), the UK Met Office and the UK National Centre for Atmospheric Science. It will deliver sustained investments to tackle some of the key far-term (10\u201315 year) and difficult (high-risk, high-reward) research challenges in global Earth System prediction.
