The 1st Reading Football Economics\u00a0Workshop\u00a0will take place on\u00a019-21 September 2019<\/strong>\u00a0in Reading, and is hosted by the\u00a0Centre for Institutions and Economic History<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Reading. There will be two keynote talks, a number of contributed sessions and informal social events.<\/p>\n

The workshop will feature\u00a0research on the widest possible area of football economics or management, be it applications to football, or the use of football to inform economics and other topics.<\/p>\n

Registration deadline:<\/strong>\u00a05 August (by e-mail, to\u00a0j.j.reade@reading.ac.uk<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Keynote Speakers:<\/strong>\u00a0Christian Deutscher<\/a>\u00a0(Bielefeld University),\u00a0David Forrest<\/a>\u00a0(University of Liverpool)<\/p>\n

Location:<\/strong>\u00a0London Road Campus<\/a>, University of Reading, Reading, RG1 5AQ, UK \u00a0[Campus map and travel advice]<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Funding:\u00a0<\/strong>Unfortunately, there is no funding available for this conference.<\/p>\n

Accommodation:\u00a0<\/strong>The London Road Campus is just outside Reading City Centre, so there are lots of options within walking distance. We recommend\u00a0Premier Inn Reading Central<\/a>, as it is convenient to the venue, train station and City Centre.<\/p>\n

Timing:\u00a0<\/strong>The conference will begin and end at approximately lunchtime on the 19th and 21st, to facilitate travel etc.<\/p>\n

Social Events: <\/strong>On the Thursday and Friday evenings, all participants are invited to\u00a0The Dairy<\/a>\u00a0to watch have dinner and watch live football.<\/p>\n

The organisers would like to invite you to attend the local English Football Championship game taking place on Saturday afternoon: Reading v Blackburn @ Madejski Stadium.\u00a0This is not formally part of the workshop. Please contact James or Carl if you are interested in this as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
