Unique features include our\u202fresearch on foreign and second language\u202feducation, pedagogy for learners with English as an additional language and other multilingual learners, reading, writing and vocabulary development, and eye movements during reading. Many researchers in the language and literacy area are members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/celm\/\">Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism<\/a> (CeLM), with which they collaborate closely.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For more information about this cluster, please <\/span><a style=\"letter-spacing: 0.08px\" href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/the-language-and-literacy-in-education-research-group\/\"><strong>click here<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.08px\">.<\/span>[\/vc_message][vc_message style=&#8221;square&#8221; message_box_color=&#8221;turquoise&#8221; icon_type=&#8221;linecons&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3><a title=\"Social Justice in Education\" href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/social-justice-in-education\/\">Social Justice in Education<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>In this cluster, we largely focus on\u202feducational equality, inclusion and social justice, encompassing health, social mobility, and the role of class, ethnicity, and gender in educational experiences and outcomes. We work with national and international organisations that promote opportunity and justice for those with restricted access to education. Our work encompasses understanding the experiences of students from underrepresented groups, including those from the LGBTQ+ community, Black and racially minoritised students and students from areas of high deprivation. Interests range from early years to the lifelong learning of adults.
