{"id":1292,"date":"2018-11-20T00:01:06","date_gmt":"2018-11-20T00:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/?p=1292"},"modified":"2022-09-20T11:17:47","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:17:47","slug":"news-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/2018\/11\/20\/news-4\/","title":{"rendered":"NEWS &#8211; Dr. Trakulphadetkrai invited by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics to develop Maths Through Stories training resources for early years teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/education\/about\/staff\/n-trakulphadetkrai.aspx\"><strong>Dr. Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Lecturer in Primary Mathematics Education at the University of Reading\u2019s Institute of Education and Founder of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mathsthroughstories.org\"><strong>MathsThroughStories.org<\/strong><\/a> initiative) has recently been invited by\u00a0the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM),\u00a0a national \u00a340-million Department for Education-funded body, to develop\u00a0a Maths Through Stories teacher training resource for early years teachers. The resource will become publicly available on the NCETM website next year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.08px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1297 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2018\/NCETM-Logo-for-Posts-HD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"583\" height=\"327\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Trakulphadetkrai already met with\u00a0Viv Lloyd, NCETM&#8217;s Assistant Director for Primary and Early Years, on Tuesday 20th November 2018 to start working on the resource which is drawn from his\u00a0research expertise in the area of using storytelling, particularly story picture books, to enhance mathematics teaching and learning.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being invited to develop the resource, Dr. Trakulphadetkrai has also been invited to deliver a Maths Through Stories\u00a0<span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.08px\">training workshop for some early years teachers in January 2019, and to Early Years Leads of all the <em>Maths Hubs<\/em> from across the country in York in March next year. (There are 35 &#8216;Maths Hubs&#8217; around the country and they are managed by the NCETM.
