Dr. Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai<\/a> and Nasreen Majid<\/a> presented their research at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference in Toronto. T<\/strong>he AERA conference is one of the world’s largest education conferences and this year it was held between\u00a0<\/strong>Friday 5 April Tuesday 9 April 2019 in Toronto, Canada.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dr. Trakulphadetkrai’s presentation (titled ‘Irish Teachers’ Perceptions on the Integration of Children’s Literature in Mathematics Teaching and Learning’<\/em>) was based on a recent research project that he collaborated with Dr.\u00a0Mark Prendergast (Trinity College Dublin) as well as Dr. Lorraine Harbison and Sue Miller (Dublin City University).<\/span>\u00a0This study explored Irish pre-service and in-service teachers\u2019 views on the use of children’s literature to support mathematics teaching and learning and to investigate perceived barriers to and enablers for the integration of children\u2019 literature in the mathematics classroom. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

In her presentation titled ‘Reclaiming Expert Teacher Status Can the Chartered Teacher Policy Create a Renaissance in Teacher Status’<\/em>, Nasreen Majid reported findings of three research projects that she has collaborated with Andy C. Goodwyn, Neil Hopkins and Carol Lesley Thompson (University of Bedfordshire). The projects\u00a0investigated the views of Principals about the future status of the profession in England and the role the <\/span>Chartered College of Teaching might play, especially as the designation Advanced Skills Teacher was abolished in 2013 after 16 successful years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
