We are pleased that Xin Du, our visiting PhD student (September 2018-February 2019) from Xi\u2019an Jiaotong University, China, has published an article in the International Journal of Science Education<\/em> with his mentor, Dr. Billy Wong (Associate Professor in Widening Participation).<\/p>\n

During his time at Reading, Xin and Billy worked on a research paper entitled, \u2018Science Career Aspiration and Science Capital in China and UK: A comparative study using PISA data<\/em>\u2019, which utilised the OECD PISA 2015 database to extend and evaluate the applicability of the concept of \u2018science capital\u2019 in the context of China, especially in understanding and explaining students\u2019 aspirations toward science.<\/p>\n
