In the article \u2018Is race still relevant? Student perceptions and experiences of racism in higher education\u2019<\/em>, Dr. Billy Wong<\/a> <\/strong>(Associate Professor in Widening Participation, University of Reading) explores the prominence of racism at a UK university, as part of his Student Experiences in STEM<\/em> project<\/a><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Wong\u2019s latest paper is co-authored with Reham ElMorally (PhD student in Political Science), Meggie Copsey-Blake (MA student in Education), Professor Ellie Highwood (Formerly Dean of Diversity & Inclusion) and Professor Joy Singarayer (Meteorology) \u2013 all at the University of Reading. The research, published in the Cambridge Journal of Education<\/em>, unpacks how students from minority and majority ethnic backgrounds discuss the issues of race and racism in higher education. The paper highlights three contemporary student discourses of racism: the na\u00efve<\/em>, the bystander<\/em> and the victim<\/em>. For a short summary, click here<\/a>.
