The Institute of Education<\/a> <\/strong>(IoE) at the University of Reading is inviting applicants for PhD studentships in the field of Education. Research in the school covers a wide range of educational topics including leadership, social justice, diversity, multilingualism, reading development and difficulties, special educational needs, second language learning, curriculum design and maths education. We are looking for students interested in pursuing PhD projects within these broad themes. Successful applicants will have full access to facilities within the School, and will become members of a vibrant community of doctoral students at the IoE and across the university.\u00a0A number of PhD studentships are currently available for study beginning in October 2021, as described below.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SeNSS Doctoral Training Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Reading is part of the ESRC funded SeNSS Doctoral Training Partnership<\/a> which awards studentships for either 3-4 year PhD study, or combined Masters\/PhD study involving a 1-year MA followed by 3-year PhD. These studentships are open to UK and international applicants, and cover fees at the UK or international rate, and a yearly stipend. Interested applicants should contact Holly Joseph (h.joseph@reading.ac.uk<\/a>)\u00a0with an expression of interest (CV and a short proposal, no more than 1000 words) by December 14th, 2020.<\/p>\n

University International Research Studentships<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of Reading also offers 3-year studentships to (non-UK) international students. This year, International Research Studentships<\/a>\u00a0will be awarded on either a fees + stipend basis, or on a fees-only basis. The deadline for applications for International Studentships is January 11th, 2021 but we encourage applicants to contact us directly before this time. Felix Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n

These awards are for international students from India\/developing countries. The scheme has not yet opened for this year, but please check the Graduate School Website<\/a> in December for details.<\/p>\n

Wilkie Calvert Co-supported PhD Studentships<\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim of these studentships is to provide support for professionals wishing to carry out a part-time PhD alongside their work.\u00a0 The University covers fees, while employers offer additional support (e.g. in the form of time off to dedicate to the PhD, or mentoring).\u00a0 These are fees-only awards, normally available to applicants from the UK\/Ireland.\u00a0 Those who are not eligible for UK\/Republic of Ireland fee status may apply, but would be liable to provide the additional funding required to cover the international fee rate. They would also be required to meet the standard English Language requirements. Initial applications to the University must be received by 01\/02\/2021, but we encourage you to contact us directly before this time.\u00a0 Please email Daisy Powell if you are interested in this studentship: d.a.powell@reading.ac.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

University of Reading Regional Bursaries<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University offers up to 15 fees-only awards (covering UK\/Ireland fees and available for both part-time and full-time study) to applicants from the Reading area.\u00a0 Applicants must permanently reside in Reading or within 25 miles of the University and demonstrate a connection to the region. The deadline for applications for this scheme is Monday 3rd<\/sup> May 2021, though you must have made and initial application to the University at least 6 weeks before this date.
