Presentation formats<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><i>1.1 The \u2018Live\u2019 presentation option \u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The\u00a0<span class=\"markqyodg0p1p\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">conference<\/span>\u00a0will take place on Microsoft Teams where presenters are asked to present their research \u2018live\u2019 for a maximum of 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of Q&amp;A. (Typically, your presentation would have no more than ten slides.) This option is ideal for doctoral students and research staff who either are in the middle of data collection or have already done their data collection and have some interesting (preliminary) findings to share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">As a \u2018live\u2019 presenter, you will need access to reliable Internet connection, a microphone and a web camera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><i>1.2 The pre-recorded presentation option (also part of the IoE\u2019s 3-minute Thesis Competition)<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">This year, we are pleased to introduce our new IoE\u2019s 3-minute Thesis Competition. These\u00a0<i>pre-recorded\u00a0<\/i>presentations must be no longer than 3 minutes, and will be following guidelines similar to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reading.ac.uk\/graduateschool\/events\/gs-Three-MinuteThesis(3MT)Competition2018newpage.aspx)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">University\u2019s 3-Minute Thesis competition.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The\u00a0<span class=\"markqyodg0p1p\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Conference<\/span>\u00a0Committee will judge the pre-recorded presentations based on communication style, comprehension and engagement.\u00a0We hope to announce winners at the end of the\u00a0<span class=\"markqyodg0p1p\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">conference<\/span>.\u00a0You can find out more about the judging criteria, guidelines and other details on our\u00a0<span class=\"markqyodg0p1p\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Conference<\/span>\u00a0webpage (<a href=\"https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/ioe-postgraduate-research-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">https:\/\/research.reading.ac.uk\/education\/ioe-postgraduate-research-<span class=\"markqyodg0p1p\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">conference<\/span>\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">This competition will be ideal for doctoral students across all stages of their doctoral journey, including first-year students who have not started their data collection yet. This pre-recorded version will also be ideal for any presenters who are unable to present \u2018live\u2019 at the virtual\u00a0<span class=\"markqyodg0p1p\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">conference<\/span>\u00a0(e.g.. students who currently live in a different time zone). Please note that with this presentation format, there won\u2019t be a live Q&amp;A element after your presentation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">These 3-minute presentations can be pre-recorded using one of the following free tools:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.screencastify.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"7\">Screencastify<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"8\">Loom<\/a>.
